DEXA

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) is a special type of X-ray that measures bone density. DEXA scans are most commonly used to diagnose osteoporosis (where the bones become weak  and fragile and more likely to break). They can also be used to assess the risk  of osteoporosis developing. A DEXA bone scan can also help detect other bone-related conditions, such as  osteopenia (very low bone mineral density) and osteomalacia (softening of the  bones caused by a vitamin D deficiency).

Here is our DEXA bone densitometer in Persian Gulf Nuclear Medicine clinic.

Electrospinning

Electrospinning uses an electrical charge to draw very fine (typically on the micro or nano scale) fibers from a liquid. Electrospinning shares characteristics of both electrospraying and conventional solution dry spinning of fibers. The process does not require the use of coagulation chemistry or high temperatures to produce solid threads from solution. This makes the process particularly suited to the production of fibers using large and complex molecules.

 Medical ultrasonography

Diagnostic sonography (ultrasonography) is an ultrasound-based diagnostic imaging technique used for visualizing subcutaneous body structures including tendons, muscles, joints, vessels and internal organs for possible pathology or lesions. The practice of examining pregnant women using ultrasound is called obstetric sonography, and is widely used.
